Bentonite waterstop is an active sealing strip made from natural sodium bentonite compounded with polymers and extruded into a flexible cord. Upon contact with water it swells rapidly to form a soft, dense barrier that seals construction joints, post-cast strips and pile heads in concrete, acting like an "intelligent valve" that closes when wet and remains dormant when dry. Its unique self-healing ability allows repeated swelling to refill micro-cracks and capillaries, providing long-term, reliable waterproofing for underground structures and earning the nickname "breathable waterstop".

Unlike traditional steel or rubber waterstops, bentonite waterstop requires no on-site welding or mechanical anchoring; simply press it onto the substrate and it begins to work, greatly simplifying construction. Its eco-friendly, non-toxic formula can be used in potable water structures and maintains high swelling capacity and water retention even in aggressive, saline or alkaline environments, making it the ideal choice for achieving "low-cost, high-efficiency, zero-leakage" sealing in tunnels, subways, utility galleries and water tanks.
