The Bentonite Waterstop Strip is a flexible, self-adhesive waterproof sealing material that utilizes the natural water-swelling property of bentonite. It is manufactured by compounding high-quality sodium or calcium-based bentonite as the main raw material with rubber, water-absorbent resins, and other additives-6-9. Typically in strip form, it can be directly adhered to or embedded into concrete construction joints or post-cast strips. Upon contact with water, the strip rapidly and controllably absorbs water and swells, forming an impervious gel that physically blocks the joint, providing reliable and long-lasting sealing-1-6.

Function

*Active Water-Activated Swelling and Sealing: The core function. Upon water contact, its volume can expand by 150% to 600% or more of its original size, actively filling and compacting the concrete joint to form a dense waterproof barrier.

*Resistance to Water Pressure: The swelling generates expansion pressure, enabling it to resist certain static water pressure (usually above 0.6 MPa), preventing water penetration under pressure.

*Self-Healing and Compensation: Possesses "mobility and replenishment." If new micro-cracks form due to concrete settlement or shrinkage, the non-fully hydrated material can continue to swell for secondary sealing, automatically repairing the gap.

*Adhesion and Filling: With its inherent tack or assisted by adhesive, it bonds firmly to concrete surfaces and fills uneven joint interfaces.
